“Falcor” is a portly gelding that arrived from Monmouth Park’s Second Call program in September, 2016. He is among the war horses in the barn at 8 years old and having raced an amazing 60 times! This nice sized, chestnut gelding retired with a sesamoid fracture that was reported to be quite small and inconsequential. Unfortunately, radiographs showed a different story and we made a rehab plan for Falcor which ended in May!
Since May he has been in work with one of our adopters, learning the basics of dressage and western riding, including neck reining! Falcor is a very talented horse whose only limitations are expected to be in the jumping department, with some small jumps to get from point A to point B on the trail within his reach, while the daily jumping/higher obstacles are likely more safely set aside. Dressage riders should take note of this one, and western riders, while he could make a nice pleasure horse for the experienced owner.
One thing we can say about Falcor is he always maintained a positive attitude throughout his rehab, has been an easy keeper, and proven very professional. We think he’ll make a fantastic low-level addition to a riding program or trail horse to a very lucky adopter.
Falcor is currently available for adoption for $750.
