“Sue” is an unfortunate name for a boy, as Johnny Cash well knew, but it seems to be sticking on this sweet guy. Sue is a lovely 2 year old bay gelding who stands around 15.3 hands at this point with room to grow. He arrived to ATR through Monmouth Park’s Second Call program in mid-November, 2017. He came to us as a colt and was gelded here on the farm. Before and after gelding, his temperament has remained unchanged, and he is lovely.
Of all our two year olds he’s about the best behaved, even-tempered, and just a love to work around. He fits in easily with a group of three other geldings and shares the fence with mares without issue. He is low on the totem pole and just happy to make friends. As we had to lunge him quite a bit after being gelded, we got to see first hand how nice a mover he is and he has a great mind for work and a desire to please and bond with his handler.
Sue ran only once, leaving no more impression on his trainer than he wouldn’t make it in the long run at the track. Luckily for this boy he retired sound and clean legged. Our vet evaluated him and loved him. He has no limitations or reason not to be in work, he’s just getting some down time currently at our farm as we move facilities, giving him a chance to enjoy being the baby horse that he is.
Sue is eligible for the 2018 RRP and will likely be a really straightforward and fun project for amateurs or professionals alike.
Sue is available now for $1,000.
