Description
Arlo was adopted in May, 2016 by Rachel out near Pittsburgh, PA. Rachel was looking for her next forever horse that she can take on to event and enjoy for a lifetime. We are so grateful she found Arlo as it really seemed like a match that was meant to be. Wishing them all the best!

Arlo is a 7 year old, 17.0 hand, bay gelding who retired through Monmouth Park’s Second Call program. Arlo retired after earning over half a million dollars for his connections and they did right by him and let him have a year off in South Carolina before sending him up to After the Races for rehoming.
Arlo is doing really well here at ATR. He is turned out currently with several other geldings. He is a bit of a big goofball, and loves life on the farm.Due to weather and footing setbacks we’ve only just started to get Arlo into work now in February of 2016. He’s was restarted on the lunge line before starting under saddle. Now he is doing walk/trot/canter under saddle and going over ground poles. We believe Arlo needs a very experienced rider to continue with his progress. While normally very good, attentive to his rider, soft in his mouth, he can throw a buck when feeling overfaced or excited. He is also mild cribber who is deterred with a kind collar but has no other vices.
We are looking for a lifelong home for Arlo. While we expect he has all the potential in the world to be competitive in a second career, he comes from excellent connections who have promised him a home should his new home not be able to keep him for life. With this in mind, he will come with a no-sale contract. Experienced, knowledgeable Thoroughbred handlers who are interested are welcome to apply.
