Description
Located in Virginia:
Bourbon Street is a 6yo gelding that has been with his adopter since November 2021. He has been slowly restarted since coming off of the track in August 2021. He had left front knee surgery to remove chips in 2021 which went well and he has no limitations. He clips, bathes, ties, crossties, leads w/o a chain, loads (though he has to think about it), grooms easily, picks his hooves up + from the opposite side, and stands very well for the farrier & vet. No vices. I have videos of his gaits available.
As far as work goes, he has been restarted both english + western. He has been W/T under saddle. Canter/lope in the round pen but never ridden his canter. He knows ground work very well + has done some liberty work. He needs to work on extension and gathering himself under saddle. We have trotted ground poles and cavalettis. He did walk over a few jumps with me as well, but that is the extent of jump experience for him.
Behavior wise, he is very quiet and kind of a slow boy. He will hack out alone, but does get a bit sour around the gate/barn. He is very calm, and has never spooked. He mostly is a sleepy guy, and enjoys relaxing and going slow. He would be great for lessons!
Health wise he is sound. He just got all of his shots done 9/22 and coggins 2/22. He has had one chiro session 1/22, and his teeth were cleaned + floated 4/23. Hooves done 4/10/23. Wormed 3/23. He is sensitive to bugs like a lot of Thoroughbreds. He is very sensitive to fly sprays. I have found a few to work -- mannapro/farnam/natural fly spray. He does best in four shoes.
