Buttermilk was adopted in December of 2023 by Julia in Illinois. Julia is excited to bring her along as her next dressage and pleasure horse, giving her a nice slow start as she finishes growing up.

Buttermilk Girlz is an adorable, 14.3 hand, 3 year old filly that came to us by way of Beyond the Wire in Maryland. She raced 6 times (slowly) and was working out as recently as November. After her initial races, her connections turned her out hoping she'd grow and mature a bit. We're not sure how little she was then, but she's still pretty small now! She was brought back to work this fall and her connections went back and forth on running her before deciding she would probably just do better in another career. Her little legs definitely would have to work extra hard to keep up with the others on the track!

Buttermilk is by Accelerate and out of a Lion Heart mare. This means she also carries Lookin At Lucky, Awesome Again, and Tale of the Cat in her pedigree. She even sold for $15,000 as a two year old before racing.

Buttermilk retired sound and clean, and our vet, staff, and volunteers are all already in love with her. She's pretty sweet, in great condition, and is turned out with other mares without issue. She's absolutely ready to start back to work any time. Since we have no indoor and no all-weather footing, it is just hit or miss when we get to restart/work horses this time of year. So for now she's available for someone interested in doing it themselves.
