Description
River was adopted in June of 2016 by Rebecca in Georgia who is hoping to turn her into a nice dressage mount and low level event horse. We know she has the movement and a great brain, so we can’t wait to see how they progress!

Original post:
“River” is a lovely 7 year old, 16.1 hand chestnut mare by Defrere who was lightly raced and retired sound with clean legs. She has had the last year off to be a pasture puff (though she doesn’t fully look it!) and was given to ATR by her owner who is getting out of the racing business. Rather than have his horses return to the track, he chose to donate them to ensure they are given the best shot at a long and fulfilling career beyond racing and we could not be more grateful.
River is a VERY sporty mover with an uphill build that show riders should pay attention to. She is very sound and currently barefoot with no vices. We have begun her retraining process and at the moment are working with her primarily on the lunge line where she is doing well. While she was reported by her trainer to be good under saddle with no buck or rear, she does have a good deal of energy and would do best with an experienced rider and owner.
