Dan the Man Can is an 8 year old, 15.3 hand, chestnut gelding that's came to us in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town. He raced an impressive 40 times and retired from racing in the fall. He is by Can the Man and out of a Half Ours mare. This means he's a grandson of Into Mischief as well, with others like Harlan's Holiday, Unbridled's Song, and Maria's Mon just a few generations back.

Dan retired sound but with extremely long feet, and he's was let down on another farm where they worked on those feet before placing him with ATR. He made an incredibly good friend with that farm owner who only wants to see this horse get the best of homes.

Dan is a super sweet, saintly type boy. He tries hard and is eager to please in every way. He got a great evaluation with our vet who found him sound and with remarkably clean legs despite how much he raced. He has an old splint here and there but nothing to get excited about. She didn't put any limitations on his future.

Dan does occasionally get some sweat on his neck that the vet thinks is possibly due to some past injections (such as antibiotics) that might have been in the wrong spot and damaged a nerve. We did put him through the ringer to make sure it was not pain related and he's sound, had a clean neuro exam, and is actually VERY flexible with that neck without any sign of pain! So just a quirky thing.

This horse is such a saint that if you're looking for your next pleasure horse or family horse, he'd likely fit that role easily with some training. We haven't started him back under saddle yet but we will soon and will update once we have!
