Family Gal was adopted in July, 2024 by Jordan in Virginia. Jordan is going to finish her rehab and then plans to bring her along to do dressage and trails.
Original Post:
Family Gal is a 3 year old, 16 hand, chestnut filly that came to us in partnership with Beyond the Wire in Maryland. She raced 5 times, all last year. We were told she bowed a tendon about 4 months before coming to ATR, but we also saw that she had timed workouts in April.
Needless to say we had our vet investigating as there may have been a lost in translation situation happening! An ultrasound here at ATR showed some fiber disruption in the tendon, but no holes. She prescribed just 30 days of small turnout in our small paddocks before re-evaluating for full turnout. While she doesn't have an active tear in the tendon, she'll still need time off for the fibers to finish filling in. Luckily, a lot of this time should be able to be done in the pasture.
This filly is by Biblical and out of a Noble Mission(GB) mare. This means she's a granddaughter of Tapit as well! Family Gal is absolutely adorable, with a big, white blaze, and is very well mannered. She has no vices, and is now on full turnout with three other mares.
She's also a good eater who never misses a meal or a chance to snack! If you are able to give this girl some more time out to pasture, she is worth it. She's going to make someone very happy!
