Description
Red was adopted by Linda Fishman, the mother of our assistant manager Cait! Cait is enjoying bringing Red along for her in the hopes that Linda can take him on as her pleasure mount in the future.

Original post:
“Red” is a 16.1 hand, 6 year old, chestnut gelding and seems like an old soul. He’s a very well mannered gelding who seems to relish any attention you have to give. He retired and came to After the Races in late August, 2015.
Red retired after he stopped being competitive at the track and retired a bit body sore. Our vet evaluated him about a week later and the body soreness had already melted away after a week of turnout. He was in need of some serious hoof rehab, but otherwise our vet did not see any limitations. He jogged evenly and had clean legs except a mark on his left hind where it looked like he’d recently knocked himself. It doesn’t bother him at all, just has a little scar tissue that’s slowly coming down.
Red is a real quiet, sweet horse, who is looking for someone who will enjoy him as a real riding partner. He likes people more than food and he enjoys good grass to the company of other horses (though he likes other horses too). He came to us pretty skinny but has been steadily putting on weight to the point you would not recognize him now. Red also came with feet that were in really rough shape. Our farrier believes with good care they will come around, but it will be a six month or more process (due to advanced white line and previous poor footcare).
