Description
Gold Casing was adopted in August of 2022 by Jess in Pennsylvania. Jess is excited to bring him home and “get him fat” and then see if he’s interested in being a trail horse again. If not, she’s happy to still give him the soft landing he deserves and a lifelong home. We can’t thank you enough, Jess!

Original post:
Gold Casing is a 20 year old (yes, you read that right!), 16.1 hand, chestnut gelding who retired many years ago. We took him on in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town. He actually came to us as a 16 year old several years ago and was recently returned due to financial hardship of his adopter, no fault of his own.
He came back a bit thin and out of shape but he’s a voracious eater and has been putting weight and muscle on fairly quickly here. He still has a little ways to go before we will do much riding with him but he has been ridden English and Western both in the past and is a very willing, fun horse to work with. We sat on him once recently just to see how he feels, and he was very relaxed and happy to have a rider on board.
Gold Casing would make an excellent pleasure horse or working companion for another horse, maybe even a lesson horse once he gets back in shape. He is barefoot with great feet, sound, and up to date on everything. We do want to make sure he goes to a home where he will continue to be adequately fed and built up, so as not to regress in his progress. He’s such a wonderful boy and worth it!
