Description

Groovy found the soft landing that he needed with adopter Shayelyn in Georgia. Shayelyn is so excited to have Groovy as her special horse and partner to bond with and care for as she gets back into horses. We could not be happier for Groovy as it seems like he found his forever home.

Original post:

Groovy Tale is a 6 yr old, bay gelding who originally came by way of Monmouth Park’s Second Call Program. He came to us in beautiful shape and with a great temperament, which is no surprise as he came from trainer Rory Huston’s barn. Groovy was adopted but was recently returned due to adopter’s health, no fault of his own. Groovy raced 18 times, with his last workout being in October of 2021. He is by Forty Tales and out of a Good and Tough mare which means his lines have Tale of the Cat, Carson City, and Mr Prospector in them.

His evaluation with our veterinarian went great initially. We have been riding Groovy walk, trot, and canter and he’s a very good worker and nice ride. He’s soft in the bridle and very happy to work. He’d probably do well with any confident intermediate rider (with a trainer) or better. We’ve had teenagers on him now, and also trailered him off the farm to Fair Hill where he went through tunnels, over bridges, trotted and cantered through the woods and out in the open, all being incredibly sensible and quiet. We even recently took him swimming in the Sassafras River and he LOVED it!

This horse is incredibly sensible, relaxed, quiet, and just lovely to work with. He has no stress on or off the farm and takes new experiences in stride. He’d be a great addition to any barn and likely would do well with intermediates (with trainers!) on up to professionals.

Groovy has no vices at all, and currently lives with 3 other geldings without issue. He was recently diagnosed with lower neck pain which our vet thinks means he likely shouldn’t pursue a career in dressage or jumping, but will not inhibit his use as an all-around pleasure horse. We currently have him on Equioxx and he is very happy and comfortable continuing in his job of all-around pleasure horse.
