Hearts a Racing, now “Riley,” was adopted by Laura BP in Pennsylvania to be her next event horse. The two are doing very well together and we are certain have a great future ahead!

Racey is a gorgeous dark bay, 16.2+ hand, mare that is 8 years old this year. She sports a wealth of dapples under her coat and good feet having come from excellent care. Racey was raced until she was 3 years old and then retired sound and without limitation to her owner’s farm. There she stayed until she came to After the Races, 5 years later.

When her owner was going through some serious health issues, it was asked that we take this lovely pasture ornament and help her discover a new career. Despite the time away from the saddle we are very pleased to report that she is a very quick learner and kind. She went from lunging to riding on her first day of work and ate it up, seemingly glad to have a job again. Kudos to whoever broke this lovely mare to ride when she was a baby and kudos to those who have kept her in such good shape.

Racey has no expected limitations and is a nice enough mover to do well in the show ring. We are developing her under saddle now and will post more photos and videos as we have them, but so far she’s been a doll to work with.
