Description
Irish was adopted in December of 2016 by Joan in New Hampshire. Joan is an established CTR rider who competes almost exclusively with Thoroughbreds and she’s hoping Irish will come along as her next great distance horse. We know Irish has the heart and the ability and cannot wait to hear how they do together!

Irish LateArrival, “Irish,” is a retiree through Monmouth Park’s Second Call program. Standing at 15.3 hands, he’s also 9 years old. However, he’s been off the track for five years! This gorgeous gelding was adopted and in the care of a woman in NJ who enjoyed training him on the flat and over fences. When she could no longer keep him, she graciously donated him to After the Races for rehoming rather than risk sending him through a private sale.
Irish has recent show experience where he won a 2’9″ jumper class at the Horse Park of New Jersey, apparently loves hacking out and riding cross-country, but could use some tooling up in the ring. We’re very excited to have him here to work with and expect great things from him.
If you want an off-the-track Thoroughbred but need a horse with more experience and knowledge, Irish could be worth a look. He’s a big ham on the ground with wonderful manners and he would likely fit in well with any barn. He has been doing well turned out with geldings on our farm, though he does love to play!
