Joey was adopted in January by Myra Farr in Chester Springs, PA. Myra is an lifelong equestrian who is hoping to bring Joey along in lower level dressage on her farm. Joey and Myra are truly partners and we’ve only received stellar reports so far from Joey. We can’t wait to hear more as spring rolls in and they can really get to work.

Joey P is a tremendous war horse and graded stakes winner. This 16.3-17 hand gelding made over $1 million in 48 starts and has quite the fan base. Joey is 13 years old now and retired sound four years ago in 2011. Since 2011 he has worked as a pony, teaching 2 year old racehorses the ropes, and has been out on trails. For the last nine months to a year however he’s been enjoying the life of a pasture puff, but his connections decided it’s time for him to find a forever home.


ATR is grateful to have been chosen by Second Call to help find Joey his match. Joey received a stellar evaluation for a warhorse. He had tie-back surgery while racing which poses no real concern as long as you feed his food to him off the ground. He also has a few nicks around his back pasterns from clipping himself in days past. Otherwise he is very sound and capable of going on to a competitive second career. Even though he has no hard limitations, we would personally love to see him find a home with moderate expectations, where he could both have a good job and have fun!

Under saddle Joey is proving very classy. He has shown to have a wonderful work ethic and is very intelligent. He is a big, powerful horse but he does look for direction and would be an easy ride for most intermediate or better riders. He is very eager to please and a quick learner. Even a confident beginner in a frequent lesson program could probably take him on.
