Tom was adopted by Gillian in NJ in February of 2017! Gillian is a hunter/jumper rider with lots of experience working with greenies who can’t wait to bring Tom along. We feel very good about putting Tom in her care!

Little Tom is a 6 year old, 16 hand chestnut gelding that retired in November through Monmouth Park’s Second Call program. He is a grandson of Storm Cat and a great-grandson of Unbridled. After 29 starts and not much to show for it in winnings, he was retired through the hands of a woman who showed him some much needed kindness at the end of his career.

Little Tom enjoys being groomed and handled and was great for the farrier. Despite some negative experiences he had at the track, he’s very quickly learned to trust his handlers here at After the Races and loves all the attention he gets. Little Tom was evaluated by our veterinarian on November 17th and found to be sound, clean legged, and not expected to have any limitations going forward. While he’s ready to go into work, we’ve not yet had the chance but hope to have him under saddle soon. For now, he’s been very happy to get turned out in a small herd and is enjoying the good life at ATR.
