Description
Wawa was adopted in June of 2016 by long time volunteers Kelly and Sadie, a mother/daughter team from Lewisville, just down the road from After the Races. They plan to give Wawa some time to be a horse and mature a bit before starting him back to work, but they hope he’ll grow into the role of 4-H mount, possible event horse, and trail horse for Sadie.

“Wawa” is a handsome, 16-16.1 hand bay gelding that is by Louis Quatorze. At only 4 years old, he is ready for most anything at this point. Wawa is aptly named after the German word for “goose” after her hurdled a goose while running his last race at Parx. Wawa retired through the Turning for Home program which made it possible for him to have surgery to remove a chip from his knee that was incurred during this awkward race.
Wawa is just about fully recovered from his surgery and is not expected to have any limitations in a new career. He’s been a doll to take for his handwalks and we’re excited to see what his future holds.
