Melissa adopted Rough Sea in January of 2024 and is looking forward to having a new trails and pleasure partner upon finishing his rehab.

Original post: Rough Sea is a 16.3 hand, handsome, 10 year old, stakes winning gelding who came to us by way of Beyond the Wire in Maryland. He stands 16.3 barefoot and has quite a classy look to him. Rough Sea is by Include and out of an Elusive Quality mare, which means he carries other horses like Gone West, Sadler's Wells, and Broad Brush in his pedigree.

He is a bit of a war horse as he raced 49 times and raced pretty consistently throughout his career. His last race was in November, and that's when it's believed he injured a tendon. He came with a recent ultrasound and our vet looked at him as well. He is so incredibly clean and tight and has good range of motion everywhere, amazing for a horse that raced like he did.

Our vet thought he was incredibly special and worth adopting while in rehab to the right person because he is not one that comes along often. He is currently in his hand walking phase and is such a good boy on the walker each day. He is eligible for the Recover at Home program as well.

Rough Sea has no vices and has been lovely to work with. A total class act, as you'd hope from a 10 year old racehorse. He is going to be very cool for someone!
