Description
Reckless was adopted by Katherine, a repeat adopter in Maryland. Katherine is hoping to do the Retired Racehorse Project next year with Reckless. She is unsure which discipline they are going to do at the moment, but is looking forward to working with Reckless and figuring it out!
Original Post:
Sgt Reckless USMC is a beautiful, big, 4 year old chestnut filly by Shackleford and out of a Mineshaft mare. Wow! She only raced 7 times and was slowing down a bit in her last few races. She came to us directly from caring owners who want to see her go on to a new career.
Our vet confirmed that Reckless is both sound and clean during her intake evaluation. She's also sound barefoot which is a huge bonus for one lucky adopter! In addition to clearing the vet evaluation, she's also been incredibly sweet and easy to handle, giving her a temperament anyone would love.
We plan to give Reckless some down time to continue letting down but she's available to the right home with the experience to restart her in the meantime.
Also if you haven't heard of her namesake, Staff Sergeant Reckless, you should look her up. She was a pretty incredible horse! You can read about her here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergeant_Reckless
